FAQ
Q: Is Service Learning a required course for students admitted in Academic Year 2025 (114 AY)?
A: No. Starting from AY 2025, Service Learning (I)–(III) is no longer a graduation requirement for new undergraduate students.
Q: Is Calculus (I) (3 credits) a required course? Do double-major students also need to take it?
A: Calculus (I) (3 credits) is a required elective for Psychology majors but not a compulsory course.
Psychology students must take it once before graduation (passing the course is not required). If passed, it may be counted as a professional elective during graduation review.
Double-major students are only required to complete the compulsory courses of the Psychology curriculum; therefore, they do not need to take Calculus (I).
Q: Can courses taken for a minor or double major be counted toward the Psychology major’s graduation credits?
A: No. The same course cannot be counted simultaneously toward graduation requirements for two different programs.
Q: Can the A1 Second Foreign Language courses be counted as free electives in the Psychology curriculum?
A: Yes. A1 Second Foreign Language courses can be counted as free electives.
However, if you wish to count them as General Education credits, you must apply through the system.
Q: Can graduate-level Psychology courses be counted as professional electives for the undergraduate Psychology program? Why does the pre-audit system categorize them as free electives?
A: The pre-audit system is linked to the course selection system. Graduate Psychology courses use the course code U7, not the undergraduate Psychology code D8, so they appear as “outside-department electives.”
During graduation review, such courses may be reclassified as professional electives for the Psychology undergraduate program.
Q: If I take Psychology graduate courses during my undergraduate studies, can I apply for course waivers in future graduate programs (on-campus or off-campus)?
A: Yes. Graduate programs may accept these courses for credit waivers if:
1.You receive a score of 70 or above, and
2.The course credits are not counted toward the 128-credit undergraduate graduation requirement.
Q: How do I reserve classrooms 80201, 80204, 80209, or the D801 Lecture Hall?
A: These rooms are primarily reserved for use by Psychology faculty and students.
Please submit the application form at least 5 working days in advance. Forms are available on the Psychology Department website. Ensure all fields are completed and sign where required.
Classroom reservations are intended for teaching or academic activities. If food/beverages, outdoor activities, or loud activities in the courtyard are expected, please indicate this on the form.
After use, please remove all trash, return chairs/tables to their original positions (lift—do not drag), and ensure all doors, windows, and power sources are properly secured.
Q: What is the minimum credit load per semester for undergraduate students?
A:
1.First–third year undergraduate students: minimum 16 credits per semester
2.Fourth-year students: minimum 9 credits per semester
3.Fifth-year students (extended study): at least one course per semester
Please refer to the Registration Division announcements for official regulations.
Q: What are the eligibility requirements and maximum credits for taking overload credits? Do I need to apply?
A: According to university regulations, students with excellent academic performance in the previous semester may take up to 31 credits in the following semester.
For Psychology majors, “excellent academic performance” is defined as a minimum average score of 80.
Returning students who were on leave in the previous semester are not eligible for online overload selection.
After Phase 2 of course selection, eligible students may submit the Overload Credit Application Form following the prescribed procedure. Additional courses can be added only after approval.
Please refer to the Registration Division announcements for official regulations.
Q: If a fourth-year student has already accumulated enough credits for graduation, do they still need to meet the minimum credit requirement each semester?
A: Yes. University regulations require fourth-year students to enroll in at least 9 credits per semester, regardless of whether they have already accumulated enough credits for graduation.
Students with special circumstances may apply for a reduced credit load by submitting the Overload/Reduced Credit Application Form. Please refer to the Registration Division announcements for official regulations.
Q: How do I apply for early graduation? What are the eligibility criteria?
A: Students may apply for early graduation (up to one academic year earlier) if they meet the following conditions:
1.All required courses and credits are completed.
2.The cumulative academic average is 80 or above, or the cumulative academic ranking is within the top 15% of the class/year.
Students must submit their application to the department office between midterm exams and the final exam week, including:
An Official Complete Academic Transcript from the Registration Division and
An Undergraduate Course Record Review Form.
Submit both documents together to the Department Office.

Students with outstanding summer-course requirements are not eligible to apply.
